Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor 17 Elite IC Indoor & Futsal Soccer Shoes - Orange/Bright Mango/Sunset Glow

• 3/4-length Zoom Air unit that actually fires on hard indoor courts
• Vaporposite upper with a tacky, grippy touch on the ball
• Non-marking rubber outsole with a pivot-friendly traction pattern
• Snug, narrow midfoot - size up if you are wide

Let us start with the uncomfortable part: this shoe is narrow. Not Mercurial-narrow in the abstract, but genuinely tight through the midfoot, and the toe box runs about a third of a size long. If you have wide or flat feet, drop the Elite IC and take the Pro instead, because the Vaporposite upper does not give the way the old synthetic knits did - it holds its shape for months and only softens around the ten-hour mark. Half a size up is the safe play for most players; players with normal-to-narrow feet can stay true to size and enjoy one of the most locked-in indoor fits Nike has shipped.

On polished indoor wood or that horrible shiny futsal tile, the rubber outsole is the reason to buy this boot. The forefoot tread bites hard on push-off and the heel block holds when you plant to shoot, so sharp cuts feel planted rather than skating. Underneath sits a 3/4-length Zoom Air unit, and it behaves differently indoors than it does on grass - the forefoot pod compresses and returns almost instantly on hard surfaces, giving you a snappy, kinetic pop when you load up for a snap shot. That said, the cushioning is thin. Two-hour sessions on concrete will let you know about it.

Then there is the colourway. Orange over Bright Mango with a Sunset Glow fade along the collar is loud in a way that photographs badly and looks great in person - the mesh reads burnt orange under indoor lighting, so do not expect the neon you see in the launch images. It is a colourway built for futsal courts and 5-a-side leagues, not for a Sunday morning grass pitch, and the mango panel does pick up scuff marks from rubber courts fairly quickly. Keep a magic eraser nearby and they will hold up.
