Adidas Predator 27 Elite Fold-Over Tongue FG Firm Ground Soccer Cleats - Yellow/Solar Yellow/Core Black

• Fold-over tongue that actually stays flat and kills lace pressure.
• HybridTouch skin with subtle Strikescale grip across the strike zone.
• FG Controlframe plate tuned for dry, hard natural grass.
• Narrow midfoot — size up if your feet are wide.

Nostalgia is a trap, and adidas keeps walking into it on purpose. The fold-over tongue is back on the Predator 27 Elite, and in Yellow with Solar Yellow flashes over a Core Black base it looks like a 1994 catalogue page that somebody dragged into 2026 and sharpened up. What actually sells it is that the flap is not decorative — lace the boot properly and it sits flush across the instep, killing lace pressure and handing you a flatter, cleaner surface to strike through. If you grew up watching Predators with that thick rubber-coated tongue, this is the closest thing to a time machine you will get in a modern synthetic.

Underneath, the HybridTouch upper is softer than the last two generations and it wraps the foot rather than floating on top of it. The Strikescale ribs across the strike zone are subtler this time — less Lego, more grip tape — and they genuinely bite when you cut across a damp ball, especially on driven passes and knuckleballs. Clean contact still feels clean, so you never get that weird dead sensation some heavily textured uppers give you straight through the laces.

Now the warning. This is not a wide-friendly boot. The last is narrow through the midfoot and the Primeknit collar hugs the ankle hard for the first two or three sessions, so if you have a broad forefoot, go half a size up or look elsewhere. Length runs fairly true, maybe a touch long. On dry, hard natural grass the FG Controlframe plate is superb — the studs are short and aggressive enough to dig without grabbing — but do not take these anywhere near 3G, they will punish your knees. Break-in is short, two sessions and the tongue flap softens into place.
