There is a reason adidas keeps coming back to green and lemon on the F50: it is the colourway the 2004 original burned into everyone's memory, and this Hyperfast Elite wears it louder than any re-release since. Under floodlights the Lucid Lemon branding against the Core Black heel reads almost reflective, and on turf the whole shoe looks like it is already half a step ahead of you.

Now the part nobody mentions in the launch videos - the laceless collar is genuinely hostile for the first two sessions. The FIBERSKIN upper has almost no give across the instep, so if you have a wide forefoot you will feel the sidewall pressing on your fifth toe until it beds in, and there is no lacing harness to loosen. Go half a size up if you sit between sizes, or accept a fortnight of discomfort for a lockdown that eventually feels cast around your foot rather than laced onto it.

Where it earns its money is the first step and the cut. The Carbitex plate running through the forefoot does not cushion so much as release - you plant, load, and it fires you out of the turn with a snap that standard nylon soles simply cannot replicate. On firm, dry natural grass the angular FG studs bite cleanly on push-off and release without that stuck-in-the-ground feeling when you rotate, although on frozen or heavily sanded pitches you want a backup pair in the bag. Toe box volume is on the low side, so thick synthetic socks are a no.
