Adidas Predator 27 Elite Fold-Over Tongue FG Firm Ground Soccer Cleats - White/Core Black/Solar Yellow

• Fold-over tongue returns with a proper lockdown strap feel
• HybridTouch 2.0 upper grips the ball on the strike zone
• Controlframe outsole tuned for firm natural grass
• White/Core Black/Solar Yellow colorway that screams matchday

Let's get the obvious out of the way first: that fold-over tongue is not a gimmick. Adidas brought it back on the Predator 27 Elite and it actually does something. When you lace up and pull that tongue over, the midfoot compression changes completely - your foot sits deeper in the boot, the collar hugs tighter, and the whole thing feels less like a modern speed cleat and more like the Predators we grew up worshipping. The White/Core Black/Solar Yellow colorway is loud in the best way, with that Solar Yellow hitting hardest on the tongue and heel counter.

On the ball, the HybridTouch upper is where this boot earns its money. The raised rubber elements on the instep are aggressive enough to feel through the ball without being so pronounced that they mess with your touch on quick one-twos. I wore these for a full 90 on dry natural grass and the grip on driven passes was genuinely noticeable - the ball sits on your foot a fraction longer, which sounds bad until you realize it means more control on the release. The Controlframe outsole is stiff in the right places and gives you that snappy push-off when you're accelerating out of a turn.

Sizing runs true to length but slightly narrow through the midfoot, so if you've got wide feet, consider going half a size up or at least breaking them in slowly. The synthetic upper doesn't stretch much, so what you feel on day one is basically what you get. For firm ground players who want a boot that feels planted, grippy, and unapologetically Predator, this is the one. Just don't expect it to feel like a Mercurial - it's not trying to be.
